Police arrest three militant associates in Kulgam

Srinagar, Feb 18: In a major success in curbing militant activities, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kulgam on Saturday have arrested three militant associates of HM and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.
“Yesterday at about 1719 hours, based on specific input regarding movement of anti-national elements carrying illegal arms and ammunition in a vehicle, police parties of PC Hatipora and Police Station Behibagh established a specific checkpoint at Daderkoot, Alamganj Crossing and intercepted three persons riding a Motorcycle bearing registration number JK22-8034,” a police spokesman said in a statement.
“During search, arms and ammunition including 01 Pistol, 02 Pistol Magazines and 13 live Pistol rounds were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Mohd Abass Wagay son of Mohd Ramzan Wagay resident of Wuyan Imamsahab, Gowhar Shafi Mir son of Mohd Shafi Mir and Nisar Rehman Sheikh son of Abdul Rahman Sheikh, both residents of DK Pora Shopian. They have been arrested and shifted to a police station where they remain in custody.”
During the course of investigation, it came to fore that the arrested militant associates were involved in many militant cases and were providing logistic and other support to the militants, police said.
In this regard, police said that a case under FIR number 05/2023 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Behibagh and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.
