Illegal car parking: Massive drive needed

The illegal car parking on the roadsides have always left the people to suffer as the already congested roads are further choking the space for smooth passage to the commuters in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The authorities concerned have once again launched a drive against the commuters involved in illegal car parking as 20 vehicles have been seized on the first day of the drive. The drive was launched on the roads from Karanagar to SMHS hospital. However, one must not forget that such drives have been launched in the past as well, but after a couple of days, these drives are being missed on the commuters as the people are being forced to face tremendous hardships when the commuters continue to park their vehicles illegally on the roadsides, leaving less space for the commuters to pass through these roads. Yet again, the drive is certainly an appreciable move, but the authorities concerned need to make sure that such drives will not be stopped till the people adhere to the guidelines and stay away from putting themselves and others in trouble. It is the time when the authorities should take strict action against the violators and also create awareness among them about the traffic rules and regulations. There is a dire need to stop illegal road parking on the roadsides as many people are being pushed to the wall and such happenings must come to an end with the support and cooperation from the general public.
