Budgam, Mar 8: Celebrating International Women’s Day, a function was organised Wednesday at Sheikh-ul-Alam Hall Budgam, wherein women from different walks of life were felicitated for their exemplary performance in their respective fields.
Deputy Commissioner (DC), Budgam, S F Hamid who was chief guest on the occasion maintained that special focus is being given on the women empowerment and equal opportunities are being provided to women of the district to ensure gender parity across all walks of life.
He said the International Women’s day provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the progress made in making women equal partners in the development of the society. He urged upon women to take inspiration from success stories of many women who have distinguished themselves in different sectors.
He said that women have excelled in every field be it academics, sports, engineering, administration or politics.
DC further said that the district administration has been facilitating women with great opportunities in fields of sports, entrepreneurship and education to ensure their overall development in the district.
ADDC Budgam, Dr Akramullah Tak, ADC Budgam also spoke on the occasion and appreciated women folk for their great contribution towards the society.
The programme was organised by District Administration Budgam in collaboration with Social Welfare Department Budgam.
Among speakers, PO ICDS, ACD Budgam, Xen Irrigation, Deputy Registrar Cooperative, DSWO also spoke on the occasion and appreciated women and deliberated upon the importance of women empowerment.
Meanwhile, various women from different walks of life were felicitated for their exemplary performance and immense contribution in different fields on the occasion.
