Baramulla, Mar 20: In a bid to end the drug menace across the Baramulla district, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Baramulla, Amod Nagpure said that police have identified all those persons involved in drug related activities, says strict action would be taken against them.
Talking to the reporters on the sidelines of a function at Narvaw Baramulla, the SSP said that police in Baramulla will be tough against those involved in Drug related activities. He said that they have identified each individual who is involved in this menace.
The SSP, said that there are some miscreants – involved in illegal activities, who do not want police-public relation to be strong as they fear of being nabbed, but the situation has changed after abrogation of the special status and people are now reporting to police without any fear.
“The miscreants and those involved in drug peddling have been identified and will be behind the bars soon,” Amod said, adding that there is not a single day when drug peddlers are not being arrested in Baramulla.
Police will take every possible measure, PSA’s, PIT-NDPS and other strict action will follow the arrest of the people involved in drugs, especially the handlers.
People here in Baramulla are law abiding and support peace. “The actions won’t have been in such a pace if people won’t report and have not been cooperative to police,” he said. “We are here to empower the citizens which would ultimately result in the discouragement of the miscreants.”
He, however, reiterated that parental care is necessary to stop crime, especially social crimes. The SSP appealed to the parents to have a strong vigil towards the activities of their wards, and asked them to report if any adverse findings were found.
