IGP Kashmir reviews security, law & order in Pulwama, Awantipora

Tral, Mar 24: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tral Shabir Ahmad Raina on Friday inaugurated a two day Integrated Communication and Outreach Program (ICOP) organized by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India at Government Degree College, Tral in Pulwama district.
The outreach programme, which also includes a photo exhibition on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), is being organised by CBC’s Field Office Anantnag for mass awareness about AKAM, assuming of G20 presidency by India, Mission LiFE and other flagship programmes of the government for public welfare. The information is being disseminated using multiple means of communication like informative standees, printed IEC material, expert lectures, group discussions and folk and traditional media performances.
In his address, Raina said that different public welfare schemes and programs are being implemented by the government for equitable development, however lack of awareness is impeding the successful implementation of the programs in various areas. He said awareness is key to the success of welfare programs and hence for people’s empowerment. He impressed upon the participants to take out the message to their respective areas. He lauded CBC for organising such a programme and called for a need to organise more such programs in future especially in rural areas.
Welcoming the guests, Shahid Mohammad Lone, Field Publicity Officer, CBC provided an overview of the various activities to be organised during the two day long photo exhibition and outreach programme. He said the objective of organizing such outreach programmes is to reach out to the people to inform them about various welfare programmes, educate them about their rights as well as to remind them of their responsibilities and duties as citizens. He said assumption of G20 presidency reflects the increasing role of India at global stage. Sh. Shahid said that both AKAM and Mission LiFE provide opportunities to the people to contribute to nations green growth and be part of India’s march to the global leadership.
Addressing the gathering, Professor Mushtaq Ahmad, Principal Government Degree College, Tral said Amrit Mahotsav is a reminder of the firm determination and resolve of the freedom fighters who were up against the mightiest of powers of that time. He urged the students to take inspiration from this resolve and lead the society against the modern day enemies like illiteracy, malnutrition, pollution and ignorance. He said youth should be the ambassadors of such a change, which is also envisaged under AKAM and Mission LiFE.
On the occasion Huma Mukhtar, Health & Nutrition Mobilizer, ICDS gave a detailed presentation on various nutritional support programmes and financial assistance schemes under ICDS/POSHAN for infants, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
