Ganderbal, Apr 1: Principal Secretary, ARI & Trainings, Ashok Kumar Parmar, Saturday visited Ganderbal and took stock of developmental scenario in the district.
Principal Secretary convened a joint meeting with DDCs, PRI members and district officers to get first hand appraisal of their concerns, grievances and development issues. He also sought feedback on status of various developmental issues.
The meeting was attended by DDC Chairperson, Nuzhat Ishfaq, ADDC, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani; CPO, ACP, DDC members, BDCs, Sarpanchs, Panchs and other district officers.
During the meeting, DDCs, BDCs and other PRI members highlighted various development issues pertaining to their areas. They demanded early completion of Lari Preng Water Supply Scheme, desilting of Bab Canal, upgradation of High School at Sherpathri, beautification of Nallah Sindh, adequate staff in RDD especially engineering wing, timely completion of Guzhama Bridge and other relatec issues.
While reviewing progress on Lari Preng scheme, Principal Secretary directed the Executive Engineer R&B for ensuring timely completion of the project besides supply of portable water supply to consumers across the district.
Regarding desilting of Bab Canal, Executive Engineer, I&FC was directed to ensure desilting/dredging of all necessary canals where ever required at an earliest so that irrigation facilities are improved across the district.
While interacting with the PRIs, Principal Secretary said that purpose of visiting district Ganderbal was to assess the issues and developmental needs of the people. He assured an early action on issues highlighted during the meeting.
He also gave necessary instructions to the officers for conducting regular field visits for proper and timely monitoring of works.
Earlier, Chief Planning Officer, Irfan Giri, presented a detailed development scenario of the district.
Later, Ashok Kumar inspected progress on various ongoing development works including Transit Accommodation Wandhama, BDC building Gangerhama and Wayil bridge.
While visiting Transit Accommodation Wandhama, Ashok Kumar reviewed the readiness of the apartments being constructed for the Kashmiri migrant employees. He also enquired about the progress on other works including water facilities, electricity, waste disposal, landscaping, inner roads, fencing, transport, and other allied facilities.
During field visit, Principal Secretary passed necessary instructions to the executing agencies for timely completion of these vital projects in the district without compromising with the quality.
