Budgam, Apr 5: The residents of Dassan village of Beerwah in central Kashmir’s Budgam district staged a protest against the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department for failing to macadamize the link road.
The locals said the road is in a dilapidated condition.
“The Dassan to Pethkoot and Dassan to Beerwah roads are in pathetic condition,” the protesters said.
They raised slogans against the R&B department and demanded their long-pending demand of macadamizing the road should be fulfilled at the earliest.
“We have been neglected for a long time. These roads have become a nuisance. We appeal to the authorities to start repairing them at the earliest,” said a protester.
Another protester said, “We have been raising our concerns with the authorities for years, but nothing has been done so far. Patients, old people, and students are suffering due to the poor condition of the roads. We can’t go to Masjid to offer prayers as there are potholes on the roads. We urge the district administration to understand our concern and take steps to repair the road.”
