Anantnag witnesses tourism boom

Baramulla, May 10: Catering to the Jammu and Kashmir’s famous tourist destination Gulmarg and other adjoining areas, Sub District Hospital (SDH) Tangmarg allegedly sans proper healthcare facilities which is added to the woes of local inhabitants.
Residents alleged that that the decades-old Sub District Hospital has been consecutively overlooked by the earlier governments as well as the present administration as healthcare facilities aren’t up to the mark.
“The SDH is lacking technical man power that includes technicians and doctors. The hospital has no specialist doctors in the ENT, Orthopaedics, Dental, Paediatrics and other speciality fields”, said Jahangir Ahmed Bhat, a renowned social activist, adding that “It’s very unfortunate that this hospital is lacking a trauma facility, besides it has no blood bank available. Injured persons from Gulmarg and especially the accident victims are being shifted to tertiary care hospital Srinagar for treatment which often puts the injured to the risk of losing lives.”
Bhat said that the diagnostic investigation ranging from the X-Ray to USG and Audiometry to other critical tests have still not been set up. The Surgeries and other allied functions are available in limited volume.
The residents said that the J&K UT government needs to mobilise the resources to address the core issues of this hospital in the interest of the patient care
“If this SDH is put under the administrative control of GMC Baramulla, the issues will be resolved on priority,” they said.
Block Medical Official (BMO) Dr. Saba despite repeated attempts, didn’t answer the phone calls.
Meanwhile, CMO Baramulla, Dr B A Malik when contacted said that they are providing all the facilities to the SDH Tangmarg.
