Anantnag, May 23: Despite elapsing a decade, the authorities have failed to complete the construction of a school building in Hassanpora area of Bijbehara, leaving the half-constructed structure abandoned.
Locals from Hassanpora area said that the authorities started construction of a school building around a decade before at Government Middle School Hassanpora.
Ali Mohammad, a local resident, said that the construction of the building started in the year 2013 and it was left mid-way.
He said that the base and brick work of the building has been completed but the rest of the works are being delayed for unknown reasons, adding that the under construction building is in dilapidated condition and can collapse any time.
Another local said that the building is being used for anti-social activities, appealing the government to take immediate steps to complete the building.
A teacher working at the school said that they are facing space crunch at the school as there are just seven rooms for nine classes, which include an office as well.
He said that the completion of the building will put an end to their sufferings.
Locals said that despite bringing this issue into the notice of higher ups several times; nothing has been done in this regard.
They urged them to look into the matter and complete the building at an earliest so that students studying there won’t suffer anymore.
Headmaster of the school said that they have brought the issue into the notice of higher ups and they are hopeful that very soon this building will be completed.
