Bandipora, May 23: In response to the growing number of tourists flocking to the Wular banks in the Zurimanz Bandipora, local youth have set up tents with the purpose of providing accommodation and guidance to visitors at the famed lake which stands as “one of the largest freshwater lakes” in South Asia.
Following the construction of gazebos and selfie points by the Wular Conservation Management Authority (WUCUMA) along the banks of “Asia’s second-largest freshwater lake”, tourist visits have witnessed a significant increase in recent months.
An official said that the initiative aims to elevate the overall visitor experience and highlight the scenic beauty of the area. “Taking advantage of this development, local youths have stepped up by setting up tents, offering comfortable accommodation choices for tourists,” he said.
With the addition of these tents, we anticipate a surge in tourists who will now have convenient accommodation options, enabling them to explore and immerse themselves in the wonders of the Wular Lake, Mushtaq Ahmad, a local said.
Another local, Ehsaan Ahmad, said, “We are optimistic that the availability of comfortable tents will entice travelers to extend their stay as they won’t have to worry about finding suitable accommodation. This will undoubtedly boost the overall tourism inflow to the lake.”
Wular Lake is a hidden gem of natural beauty, waiting to be explored by more travelers, said a senior citizen Ghulam Ahmad. “Its serene waters, surrounded by majestic mountains, create a breathtaking panorama that must be witnessed firsthand. We urge more tourists to come and experience the tranquility and awe-inspiring vistas of the lake,” he said.
The official said the administration is committed to enhancing its beauty and providing an unforgettable experience for visitors. “We are diligently working on further beautification projects, aiming to showcase the true splendor of the Wular Lake,” he said. “We have an exciting lineup of events planned for the coming months, creating opportunities for tourists to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage and natural wonders that surround this remarkable destination.”
