Charm of village

A total of 125 projects under the much-hyped Smart City projects are set to be completed by June, 2024 while 55 as per the Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) have been completed already. With the developmental projects continuing to gain pace in Srinagar City, the SSCL has stated that 50 more projects out of 70 ongoing are expected to be completed before December, 2023. However, amid the developmental works gaining a pace, the commuters in City areas like Khanyar, Bohri Kadal, Munawarabad, Khayam, Nowpora, Gojwara, Nowhatta, Maharaj Bazar, Baba Demb, and adjacent areas continue to face tremendous hardships due to the dilapidated road condition at multiple places. The prevalent condition of the road has turned irksome for the pedestrians, especially during the past couple of days as the potholed roads are filled with the muddy water, causing inconvenience to them while passing through these roads. The commuters claimed that these uneven roads with huge potholes are a major cause of traffic jams in Downtown. They believe that smooth flow of traffic will only be possible when these roads are fixed and this issue has added to various problems and is also resulting in damage to the vehicles. Therefore, to put an end to the sufferings of people, the concerned authorities need to prioritize the projects related to the macadamization of roads in the city areas so that the suffering commuters as well as the pedestrians could heave a sigh of relief. The concerned officials need to take a call and ensure that the issue of potholed roads is put to an immediate end.
