Amid the persistent wet spell in Jammu and Kashmir for the past over some weeks, the weather conditions have changed as the temperature has once again plummeted across the region, giving an impression of a winter like situation in the Union Territory. As per the forecast, the weather conditions would continue to remain unchanged for the next two days as there is a possibility of light rains again at a few places in J&K. Moreover, the weather conditions may improve from June 5, but the weatherman has mentioned that the light rains from June 5-10 cannot be ruled out. However, amid such a weather condition, the authorities in Jammu division have announced summer break from June 8. The decision to announce summer break amid the prevalent weather conditions has come under severe criticism with the people, stating that the decision should not have been taken given the present weather circumstances and thus the authorities should have at least waited for the improvement in the weather conditions. The announcement of summer break would only lead to academic loss and would serve no cause amid the prevalent weather conditions. It is not an apt time to announce the summer break and thus, the government should reconsider its decision for at least a couple of days and till then the classes should continue as it is so that the students enrolled in different schools across the region could heave a sigh of relief.
