Power paucity

For the first time, the people have been facing power paucity in Jammu & Kashmir in the month of June as despite the change in the electricity schedule, the people continue to witness frequent power cuts, causing immense hardships to them. The consumers across Jammu & Kashmir are witnessing power cuts from the past nearly one week now as the Union Territory is presently facing power availability issue. J&K’s power supply has been cut by 25 per cent without “any clear reasons”, the reports quoting the officials claim, but one fails to understand why there is no headway in this regard as the people across J&K are being forced to reel under darkness for hours together, forcing them to face immense hardships. As far as the media reports are concerned, Kashmir region will face the brunt of the power shortage given the soaring temperatures in Jammu, where the power department is resorting to minimum possible cuts. Presently, there is a deficit of nearly 25 per cent electricity supply from the centre, thus has triggered a temporary power crisis in J&K while there was no clarity as to what led to the power availability issue, but it seems that such a situation would continue for some time. In order to minimise the sufferings of people, there is a need to take up the matter with the concerned authorities at earliest so that the power availability issue is addressed and the people could heave a sigh of relief.
