Keep Kashmir connected

In the scorching heat, the people in Kashmir are facing tremendous hardships as the electricity continues to play hide and seek in wake of the present power availability issue that has continued for over two weeks now. There seems no relief in sight as the erratic power supply continues to be witnessed at most of the places including Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. It is in place to mention here that Srinagar has recorded the hottest day of the season on Sunday as the mercury in the summer capital settled at 30.8 degree Celsius while a few more places are witnessing scorching heat, which include the most popular tourist destinations like Pahalgam and Gulmarg. Amid the scorching heat, the electricity supply is not being supplied as per the expectations of the consumers as the present power availability issue has not been put to an end so far. In such humidity, the people are being forced to face hardships. One fails to understand how long the people across Kashmir will have to face such a worsening power situation and when this erratic power supply will be put to an end. The present power woes come just a few weeks after the government revised the power schedule after the end of the winter season in which the power cuts were being witnessed throughout the Valley as the power demand usually goes up in the winter period due to the plummeting of the temperature. There is a need to take up the matter with the concerned authorities so that the issue is addressed at an earliest and the people will be supplied adequate electricity and thus would heave a sigh of relief.
