The government has been claiming to have taken steps to ensure round the clock electricity in Jammu & Kashmir for which the measures like augmentation of infrastructure, installation of smart meters and other things were taken. But, the media reports have taken every individual to the shock as the administration has failed to ensure proper electricity in the far-off villages including Marwah and Warwan, which are located 250 km from Kishtwar district headquarters and 140 km from Anantnag, the area with around 40,000 souls is yet to be electrified and the electricity still remains a distant dream. As per the media reports, the villagers have to rely on solar panels provided to them by the Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) to light the bulbs. It is unfortunate that despite claiming high and tall, the government has failed to bring some relief among the villagers as no steps have been taken so far to ensure electricity to the villages. In absence of electricity, the people are still unaware of modern technology, which is important nowadays to compete with others in the world in terms of education and other related things. However, such a situation indicates how the people living in these areas are being ignored and kept away from the basic facilities. It is a time to ensure rapid and equal development, thus these areas too should receive electricity at par with the other areas of Jammu & Kashmir so that they could heave a sigh of relief.
