Srinagar, Aug 4: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar Friday chaired a comprehensive review meeting at Civil Secretariat here to assess the progress achieved on the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) across Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Jal Shakti, Shaleen Kabra; Secretary in Jal Shakti Department, Mission Director, JJM, Dr. G.N Ittoo; Chief Engineers of all wings of Jal Shakti, Superintending Engineers of all districts and other concerned officers both in person and through video conferencing.
During the meeting, the Advisor held detailed assessment on the progress on execution of works and finalization of contracts under JJM. He also reviewed and discussed the status of tendering, evaluation of bids and allotment of civil works besides assessing progress achieved in respect of procurement of pipes under JJM.
Addressing the officers, Advisor Bhatnagar emphasized upon the officers for collaborative efforts among different stakeholders for ensuring the success of the mission. He exhorted upon the officers to maximize their efforts in executing various projects under the JJM so that safe potable drinking water is provided to every household of Jammu and Kashmir and the target of providing every rural household with Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) is achieved within the given deadline.
While reviewing the progress of different components of JJM like borewells, tube wells, overhead tanks and sand filtration plants, Advisor Bhatnagar directed the concerned officers to expedite the tendering and evaluation processes and ensure that allotted works are completed by the fixed deadlines. He also impressed upon the officers to maintain highest level of transparency and accountability in implementation process and meet the timelines targeted for completion of various tasks.
Advisor Bhatnagar also stressed on the importance of timely project execution, effective monitoring, and transparent reporting to maintain the momentum of the mission’s success. He encouraged continuous engagement with the public through awareness campaigns. He emphasized on the mission’s pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life of general public especially rural areas by ensuring the provision of clean and safe drinking water.
During the meeting, several notable achievements were presented during the meeting, including the completion of numerous water supply schemes, the installation of water purification systems, and the training of local maintenance teams to ensure the sustainability of water supply systems.
