Srinagar, Aug 4: Jammu and Kashmir police in Baramulla on Friday said to have booked five notorious drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
The five accused drug smugglers identified as Gulzar Ahmad Ganai of Chijhama Rafiabad, Gh Mohi-u-din Dar of Ladoora Rafiabad, Waheed Sultan Ganai @Raj Don of Shirpora Pattan, Ajaz Ahmad Gojri @Ajaz Mughal of Malpora Pattan & Atiqullah Lone of Tujjar Sharif Sopore have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority. The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jail Jammu, a police spokesman said in a statement.
“Pertinent to mention here that many cases are registered against the said drug smugglers and they were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Rafiabad, Ladoora, Chakloo, Binner, Janbazpora, Shirpora Pattan, Malpora Pattan & other areas of district Baramulla. Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth,” police said.
“Consistent actions of Police against the criminals should reassure the community members that police is making all efforts to eradicate social evils and making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse,” police said.
