Sopore, Sep 20: Inhabitants of Hygam (B) area of Sopore on Wednesday complained about lack of development in their area.
The aggrieved residents said that they are facing shortage of drinking water, poor drainage facility and dilapidated roads in the area. “The area has been overlooked by the consecutive governments and nobody seems to be taking our issues seriously,” they said.
“Chattipora being a face of Hygam has seen no development from years, we have been victimized and befooled by so-called leaders/PRI’s who only visited them during elections. At the time of voting only, they came to know about this Chattipora Hygam B village else nowhere”, alleges Showket Ahmed War, a local resident.
The residents said they were promised macadamization of the road but nothing happened so far.
“We are being forced to drink contaminated water which is unhygienic and health hazardous for us. The department is making no effort to ease our difficulties,” the residents said.
They urged the LG administration and the concerned authorities to look into the genuine demands of people so that they could have a sigh of relief.
