Srinagar, Oct 5: Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta on Thursday said that 24×7 electricity can be ensured only when all the consumers will pay their tariff with subsidy.
Addressing a gathering, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta said that J&K has borrowed Rs 31000 crore in the last three years to pay the electricity bills. “The things cannot change this way, and the situation cannot be improved,” he said.
“24×7 electricity can be made possible only when all the consumers will pay their bills with subsidies,” he said.
“We are not so poor that the electricity bills cannot be afforded. The government will ensure round-the-clock electricity only when the bills are paid by one and all,” he said.
