Pulwama, Oct 31: Commissioner Secretary Science and Technology, Saurabh Bhagat, presided over a Public Darbar besides chairing UT foundation day and Rashtriya Ekta diwas celebration here Tuesday.
Commissioner Secretary e-inaugurated various development projects including Health & Wellness Centre at Ichgoze costing Rs 55 lakh and double-storey building at Wakharwan, constructed with a project cost of Rs 52 lakh. He also laid foundation stone for Rs 4.30 crore Water Supply Scheme at Banoora which will benefit a population of 6500 souls.
He also released a compendium and NHM evaluation report which will provide valuable insights into the district’s progress and healthcare initiatives.
On the occasion, cultural programmes were held wherein students presented colourful programmes.
The Public Darbar received an overwhelming response from all sections of the society.
Local residents and community members had the opportunity to interact with Commissioner Secretary, conveying their concerns and issues, seeking intervention for redressal.
Saurabh Bhagat emphasized the Government’s commitment towards serving the public and fostering transparency, accountability and integrity in public service. He highlighted that this event was a platform for local residents to interact directly with government officials. He assured the public that their concerns and issues would be duly taken into account by the government for solutions.
Commissioner Secretary, later, presided over the foundation day of J&K UT which coincides with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birthday. He highlighted the remarkable developments achieved over the past four years in the region. He added that Pulwama district stands at the forefront across various indicators, showcasing the dedication and hard work of both the district administration and the community.
The initiatives of the Government, be it in terms of funding, formulation and implementation of Back to Village plan, Ayushmaan Bharat and Swachhta campaigns, or projects like PMGSY, reflects a unified approach towards progressive development, maintained the Commissioner Secretary. He said that the transformation that J&K has undergone in these four years places us among the topmost regions in the country.
Saurabh Bhagat also engaged in a substantive discussion with PRI members, which included DDC members and BDC chairpersons, seeking their valuable feedback and insights.
This interaction further reinforced government’s commitment towards inclusive governance and ensuring that the voices of local representatives are heard and considered in the decision-making process.
Commissioner Secretary inspected stalls set up by various government departments. These stalls showcased the commendable efforts and activities undertaken by the respective departments.
Sourabh Bhagat also participated in an Integrity Pledge ceremony, conducted during Vigilance Week 2023, to combat corruption.
Earlier, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, presented an overview of overall development scenario of the district highlighting the achievements registered during the past four years.
