Ganderbal, Nov 7: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Shyambir Tuesday chaired a meeting of officers to review the winter preparedness of line departments for winters in the district.
During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held regarding availability of snow clearance machines, establishing of Joint Control Room and action plans prepared by the concerned departments to prevent interruption of essential services during inclement weather.
The DDC impressed upon the officers to remain available at headquarters for prompt response to the public grievances and for better coordination in dealing with snow clearance operations in the district.
The Executive Engineers of PMGSY, R&B and Beacon briefed the DDC about the action plan and availability of snow clearance machines in the district.
While reviewing the preparation of PDD, the Executive Engineer informed that sufficient buffer stock of transformers, insulators and Conductors are available in the district. The DDC directed him to ensure sufficient stock of transformers is kept available at Kangan also.
It was also directed that the joint control rooms should be activated under the supervision of ADC Ganderbal at district headquarters with adequate manpower to cater to the needs of the general public especially during snowing days.
Regarding preparation of FCS&CA, the AD informed that storage of essential commodities in higher reaches of the district will be done in identified granaries for four months which will be distributed to the consumers accordingly.
The DDC directed for ensuring that snow clearance machines are positioned at all critical spots and that these are pressed into service as soon as snow starts to accumulate prioritizing roads leading to all important installations across the district including Hospitals.
The DDC sought inter-departmental coordination for effective response for any eventuality in the approaching winter season and exhorted that the reaction time should be prompt and the snow clearance plan besides the restoration of affected services should be effectively implemented.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Gulzar Ahmad, ASP, CPO, SE, R&B; CEO SDA, SDM Kangan, Executive Engineers of various Engineering wings, CMO and other district and sectoral officers.
