DC Kupwara chairs Special Summary Revision meeting of EROs, AEROs

Kupwara, Nov 10: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, (District Election Officer), Ayushi Sudan Friday chaired a meeting of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and other concerned officers to review the progress under Special Summary Revision (SSR) – 2023.
At the outset, ACR Kupwara gave a detailed overview about the exercise and it was given out that Kupwara district has 611 total polling stations, as per draft electoral roll there are 5, 19,000 voters.
The DC took a detailed review of the agenda points, smooth and successful conduct of the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SSR) of Electoral Rolls-2023, Assured Minimum facilities (AMFs) at polling stations, SVEEP campaign and enrollment of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) voters.
She said that the prime objective of the Special Summary Revision (SSR)–2023 is to keep the Electoral Roll updated and to provide an opportunity to get fresh enrolment of young eligible voters who are attaining the age of 18 years or more on 01-01-2024 ( qualifying date).
She also stressed on conducting analysis of Electoral Rolls to identify the areas where some voters have remained unregistered in the Electoral Rolls.
The DC directed the concerned officers to conduct special drives in all Degree Colleges, Polytechnics, ITIs, Schools, Madrassas and other educational institutions, markets, industrial estates to enroll the young eligible voters and to address all their claims relating to the electoral roll.
She directed the special camps for ST Population which has returned from Dhocks. She asked to conduct special camps targeting old age and specially-abled persons.
The DC further directed EROs and AEROs to mobilize BLOs for intensive door to door voter registration campaigns. She also emphasized on EROs and AEROs to report the progress on a daily basis.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed AMF like electricity, water and ramp facilities for polling stations.
CEO Kupwara was directed to give the detailed report of Schools and other institutions lacking AMF, within two days.
The DC (DEO) also reviewed the progress of the Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Programme (SVEEP) campaign.
District Nodal Officer SVEEP, Iftikhar Naseem apprised the chair that essay competitions and sticker pasting campaigns have been held and banners and hoardings are being erected at prominent places.
Meanwhile, an intensive social media campaign in the district is going on to promote voter awareness in the district.
ACR Kupwara, Irfan Bahadur; SDM Sogam, Ijaz Ahmad Bhat; CEO Kupwara, A.H Fani; Tehsildars (AEROs), Officials from District Election Authority Kupwara and other concerned were present in the meeting.
