Srinagar, Dec 9: In a relentless pursuit to eliminate the scourge of drugs from the society, police arrested a drug peddler in Handwara and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A team of officers led by Incharge Police Post Chogal under the supervision of senior officers at a checkpoint established at Pohrupeith intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, officers recovered 4Kgs of Poppy Straw meticulously concealed in bag from his possession. He has been identified as Aqib Ahmad Najar son of Ab Qayoom Najar resident of Sopore. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. In response to this incident, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in police station and further investigation has been initiated.
