DC Kupwara reviews progress of PM Vishwakarma Scheme

Kupwara, Jan 3: In order to review the progress in implementation of PM Viswakarma scheme, launched to uplift traditional Artisans and Craftspeople, a meeting was held today under the chairpersonship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex, here.
At the outset, the DC took a firsthand appraisal about the progress made so far with regard to registration and on-boarding of Sarpanches and Artisans (Vishwakarmas).
On the occasion, the chair was informed that as on date 292 Sarpanches out of total 385 have been onboarded.
The DC also reviewed the technical issues on Vishwakarma Portal and stressed on resolving the issues at the earliest to ensure a smooth process.
She asked the Officers of all the line Departments to co-operate with VLEs for successful implementation of the scheme so that the target group is benefitted for their overall socio-economic development.
The DC directed District Manager, CSC to speed up the process, give individual targets to VLEs and onboard all Sarpanches and beneficiaries of the district.
She also directed the Labour department to organize Vishwakarma camps block wise.
While reviewing the performance of the VLEs, Ayushi asked them to be proactive, establish contacts with the target groups, improve performance, and stick to the timeline of 15 Jan, 2023.
Highlighting the features of PM Vishwakarma, the Deputy Commissioner said that the scheme will directly benefit thousands of Artisans and Craftsmen of the District working with their hands and tools besides transforming the lives of the Artisans and Craftspeople contributing in preservation of traditional and heritage crafts.
With the implementation of the Vishwakarma scheme, the Artisans who are the part of the economic growth of the society will get easy access to collateral free credit, skill upgradation besides getting a platform for brand promotion and market linkages through modern technological interventions.
PM Vishwakarma scheme offers a range of benefits including toolkit incentive of Rs 15,000, training to artisans, collateral-free credit support up to Rs 1 lakh (first tranche) and Rs 2 lakh (second tranche) at a concessional interest rate of 5%, incentives for digital transactions and marketing support.
Meeting was attended by ADC Kupwara, Gh. Nabi Bhat, GM DIC, Sameer Jan, ACR Kupwara, Irfan Bahadur, ACP Kupwara, Dr. Mudasir,District Manager, CSC, Dr. Javid Iqbal other officers of line departments and VLEs.
