DC Srinagar reviews arrangements for Republic Day celebrations

Srinagar, Jan 11: In connection with celebrations of forthcoming Republic-Day-2024, a meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner(DC), Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud Din Bhat here Thursday at Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex to ensure smooth and flawless conduct of the national event.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Ashish Mishra was also present in the meeting.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner took a Department wise review about the arrangements to be put in place by the respective Departments.
The DC directed the Officers of the concerned Departments to ensure all preparations including Seating arrangements, March Past Parade, Cultural programmes, Transport & Parking facilities, Power & drinking Water Supply, deployment of Sanitation staff, Medical/First Aid & Fire and Emergency teams, Installation of Public Address System, besides Illumination of Government Building on eve of upcoming Republic Day.
On the occasion, matters related to Security, Media Management and entry of VVIPs, VIPs and other participants were also discussed in detail.
The DC stressed on making fool-proof security arrangements in and around the Stadium to ensure hassle-free celebrations of the function. He also enjoined upon the concerned Officers to maintain close coordination with each other for holding the function smoothly.
Regarding parking for vehicles, the DC asked the Officers of the Traffic Department to assess the capacity of the parking slots identified for the event and formulate an action plan so that the maximum number of vehicles of the dignitaries and other participants coming to attend the function are accommodated in a hassle free manner.
While SMC authorities were asked to ensure that all washrooms are functioning properly, besides establishing mobile toilets at the venue on January 26. They were also asked to take measures for dog menace around the venue.
The DC asked the Education Department and Cultural Academy to ensure all necessary arrangements for boarding/lodging of participating school children and Artists are taken care well in advance with concerned, while transport arrangements will be made by SRTC.
In order to ensure hassle free entry of the Officials of the line Departments, the DC asked the Departments to submit lists of the employees and identifiers by January 5th, 2023 so that their security passes are made well in advance.
The DC also stressed on making elaborate arrangements to tackle any water logging, if any caused due to rain/snowfall on the occasion of Full Dress rehearsal proceedings and the main event on 26th January.
The DC also asked the PDD for illumination of identified Government buildings and other prominent spaces on the eve of the Republic Day-2024. He also asked the Officers to hoist the national flag in their respective offices on the Day. With regard to showcasing of Jhankies during the Republic Day parade, the Dc asked for setting up a control room.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioners, Joint Director Information Kashmir, Chief Planning Officer, Superintending Engineers of R&B & PDD, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, SDM East, SDM West, Nodal Principal Colleges, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, Tehsildar South, besides senior Officers of SRTC, Cultural Academy, Hospitality & Protocol, RTO, YS&S, Sports Council, Mechanical Engineering and other line Departments were present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner accompanied by the Officers later visited Bakshi Stadium to take on site review of the arrangements/preparatory activities to be put in place by the respective Departments on the eve of Republic Day-2024.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner along with officers went around the Stadium pavilions and VVIP Gallery to have first-hand appraisal of the preparatory activities. He took onsite review of the arrangements to be put in place for smooth conduct of Republic Day.
The DC was given appraisal about the preparations/arrangements being made with regard to seating arrangements, cultural programmes, march past parade, power supply, deployment of medical & first aid and firefighting system, installation of PAS. Besides Media management, security related matters and entry of VVIPs, VIPs and other participants.
The DC was also given brief about the security arrangements in and around the Stadium to ensure hassle-free celebrations of the function.
During the visit, the DC asked the concerned to make requisite arrangements for parade contingent passage and for the cultural activities at the Stadium to cope any situation arisen due to snowfall/rain on rehearsal day or main event of the Republic-day 2024.
On the occasion, the DC enjoined upon the Officers to maintain close coordination with each other for holding the function smoothly.
