Doctors: The heartbeat of our healthcare system

The hopes of an end to the persistent dry spell among the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir are alive as the weatherman here has predicted the possibility of light to moderate snowfall by the end of this month, which is expected to break the prolonged dry spell. The people have been praying for an end to the dry spell for the last some weeks as the prevalent weather conditions not only led to health issues, but would also have serious repercussions in the future as well. While the weatherman has predicted the possibility of moderate snowfall, the government at the same time needs to gear up and make sure that all the necessary arrangements are done well on time to ensure that the people are not forced to face hardships. It has been observed that the people face either electricity issues or other issues whenever there is moderate to heavy snowfall, therefore, the respective district administrations as well as the line departments should be issued necessary directions to remain ready during the period of snowfall so that the issues, if any, are resolved without any delay. There is a need to keep the adequate men and machinery ready so that the roads are cleared well on time and especially there is a need to ensure that the mandatory Srinagar-Jammu National Highway is not kept closed for a long as its closure would certainly lead to the shortage of essentials in the Valley. Moreover, the divisional administration should also gear up to ensure an adequate stock of essentials so that the people are not pushed to the wall.
