The pace of the ongoing projects being executed under the Srinagar Smart City Project has been accelerated from the last nearly one year as the projects that would otherwise take nearly a year or so are being completed in just a few months. In one such instance, the government has completed the redesigning of the Old Habba Kadal bridge and turned it into an exclusively pedestrian bridge in just a five months period, which shows how the ongoing projects have been taken up and being ensured on the ground. However, as the weatherman has predicted the possibility of wet spell in Jammu and Kashmir for the next one week, there is a need to make sure that the ongoing projects are not delayed for a longer period as witnessed in the past when it would take years together to complete just a small project. The concerned authorities and the executing agencies must not delay the projects for the wellbeing of the people as it has been observed that the roads at maximum places are dug at present in order to reshape or redevelop them. There is a need to come up with proper arrangements for the executing agencies so that the people are not pushed to the wall, especially when the winter season is inching towards its culmination. Besides, the authorities should take all the preventive measures and erect some signboards ahead of the wet spell so that any possible untoward incident is thwarted.
