While the prolonged dry spell has ended at most parts of the valley, the respective administrations have come up with advisories, asking people to avoid travelling or take precautionary measures. Several untoward incidents have been reported in the past when the precious lives were lost either in snow avalanches, or related issues as some areas usually witness landslides, shooting stones or other incidents whenever it rains or snows. The district administrations have been issuing these advisories every time to ensure that no loss of life or any injury is reported to anyone during the vulnerable days. But, it has been observed that the people, despite the advisories, inch closer to the vulnerable spots and thus simultaneously get trapped in the dangerous situation that causes the catastrophe to some families as well. However, besides issuing the advisories, there is a need to make sure that no one is allowed to head towards the no-go zone during these days to ensure that the loss of life is prevented. Moreover, the district heads at multiple places have chaired a review meeting Monday in wake of the inclement weather conditions, but they should also take concrete steps to ensure that the entry towards the vulnerable spots is banned for all, especially the tourists. The respective tour guides need to inform the tourists about the repercussions and about the previous incidents so that they are motivated and simultaneously help in preventing the loss of life in the possible untoward incidents in the vulnerable areas.
