The time has gone when the children were coming out of their homes to play outdoor games as they have kept themselves confined within the four walls of their respective homes and remain intact with the electronic gadgets like the smart phones and other things. However, the only time they come out of their homes is to buy junk food, which is quite common nowadays. Keeping themselves within the four walls and the consumption of junk food at the same time, would certainly end up in serious health issues. Junk food is usually highly processed foods like chips, cookies, and soda. It tastes good but has little or no nutritional value, also known as empty calories, or energy units. Eating too much junk food can lead to health problems like obesity and diabetes, a disease that affects how the body processes sugars. However, the consumption of junk food as per the health experts leads to childhood obesity. According to a 2004 study that appeared in Paediatrics, children’s fast food consumption had a number of risky obesity-related health issues. This study found that children who ate fast food were more likely to eat a meal’s worth of calories, fat, carbohydrates, and added sugars. Keeping in view the present scenario, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has mentioned that by the year 2050, one in three adults would have diabetes. Given the present situation, the parents have to play a key role in putting an end to these habits of the children so that they grow up healthy and would not face any health issues.
