DC Pulwama inspects polling stations of Pampore Assembly Constituency

Pulwama, Mar 8: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom, who is also District Election Officer Friday visited various polling stations of the Pampore Assembly Constituency to inspect Assured Minimum Facilities, and reviewed the preparedness of administration for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The polling stations visited on the occasion includedat Kakapora, ITI Women Pampore, GBHSS Ladoo, Shar Shali, BHSS Khrew, GBPS Wuyan, GBHS Wuyan,.GBMS Meej GMS Kadlabal and GUPS Litterbal.
The inspection was aimed to ensure that all polling stations are accessible to voters especially to specially-abled persons. Ramp access, wheelchair facilities, and other facilities were reviewed by the DC.
The DC, accompanied by SSP Awantipora, ADDC Pulwama, ADC Awantipora assessed the facilities, security arrangements and accessibility features at these polling stations.
He emphasized the concerned departments for ensuring all required facilities at the polling stations so that each and every eligible voter shall participate in the election process without any hindrance.
The DC interacted with staff to review the preparedness and adherence to electoral guidelines, emphasizing the importance of impartiality and transparency throughout the electoral proceedings.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to conducting free, fair and peaceful elections, urging all stakeholders to cooperate and contribute to the success of the electoral process.
Later, he visited the strong room at Polytechnic College, IUST Awantipora and took stock of handling of election material for the Tral assembly segment.
The DC also reviewed the storage infrastructure, security measures, and inventory management systems in place at stations to handle election material.
