DEO B’la flags off Vibrant Shikara Rally to promote Voter Awareness under SVEEP

Baramulla, Mar 23: In an endeavour to raise awareness about various election-related activities as part of SVEEP (Systematic Voter Education Electoral Participation), the District Election Officer, Baramulla, Minga Sherpa in presence of Chief Education Officer, Balbir Singh Raina, flagged off a vibrant Shikara Rally in Jhelum River at Baramulla.
The Shikara rally which started from Dewan Bagh witnessed a diverse participation, notably from energetic young individuals and first-time voters whose enthusiasm showcased a strong desire to actively engage in the democratic process.
The rally culminated at Eco Park Baramulla, and was received by the ARO, Baramulla Constituency, Arshid Ahmad Khan, Nodal officer SVEEP Balbir Singh Raina and Tehsildar Baramulla Safiya Abdullah where a comprehensive awareness session related to election process was held for the participants of the rally.
The rally is part of a series of impactful events including snow festival at Ladoo Ladoora, Boat Racing at Watlab, Snow Sporting Event at Tangmarg, organized by the District Administration Baramulla under the SVEEP initiative, aimed at promoting awareness about the electoral process throughout the district.
During the event, the DEO emphasized that the objective of such events is to enhance electoral literacy and raise awareness about the election procedures in order to empower the electorates, especially first time voters to effectively participate in the elections.
Minga Sherpa further highlighted that during these awareness events the electorates, especially young voters are educated by the election officials about various election procedures in place and the guidelines of the ECI they need to adhere to, for exercising their democratic right.
The DEO urged the media representatives present at the event to actively contribute towards spreading awareness regarding the essential role of public participation in elections, emphasizing the importance of an informed and engaged electorate.
