Pulwama, Mar 23: A young software engineer from South Kashmir’s Pulwama district has developed the Prayer Timings (JK Meeqat) App for Jammu and Kashmir residents.
Raqib Yousf, a resident of Gudoora village of Pulwama district has developed a prayer timing App that gives accurate prayer timing for all areas of Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh as per the timings of Darul Uloom Raheemiya Bandipora.
In a short span of time, the App has been downloaded by over one lakh mobile phone users.
Raqib said that he developed the early version of the App in 2019, which has over 30000 installs.
Later, he added some more features to the App and published it separately for the general public in 2021, which is being used by thousands of users, with over 15000 daily users using the app and taking advantage of it. The app has over 60,000 total downloads.
He said that the App has some more features such as the Quran in audio format and a few Islamic books including Aurad-e-Fatiha.
“The app is available on the Play Store for Android users and is also available on the App Store for iPhone users,” he said.
The developer has also released an app recently with the name of Aasan Kashur Tarjam, which is the first of its kind in Jammu and Kashmir and provides the Quran with Kashmiri translation by Mufti Shafeeq Sahab Shupiyani.
This App also gained popularity among the people of Jammu and Kashmir very quickly, and in a very short span of time, it had over 10,000 installs.
This App was developed under the banner of Darul Uloom Islamia Pinjoora Shopian.
Raqib said there is a lot to be done to improve these Apps and add more and more features to them.
He is continuously striving to make the apps resourceful so that more and more people can benefit from them while these apps are ad-free and will remain like this.
He added that these apps are developed for the sake of Allah, and there is no plan to make them commercial.
