Kashmir can’t afford to ignore earthquake risk

Some of the projects that have come up in Srinagar in the recent past have turned out to be a major attraction for the tourists where a huge number of visitors from different parts of the country can be seen enjoying throughout the day, especially in the evening hours. The hustle and bustle in the market near the famous and redesigned clock tower (Ganta Ghar) is giving an indication that the people, who come from the different parts of the valley are in love with the new developmental projects in Kashmir. Such developmental projects are the need of the hour as it would help the local economy to grow, which simultaneously helps the local businessmen here to earn their bread and butter for their families. Kashmir has seen many shutdowns in the past, which has led to the huge losses to the businessmen across the Valley, but since the situation improved and the new developmental projects come up, the people, especially traders are heaving a sigh of relief as they are able to open their shops on regular basis and witnessing a surge in the tourist flow, which helps them to increase the sale at their respective units. While Ganta Ghar has emerged as a major tourist attraction, there is a need to come up with more such projects that will help to grow the economy here in the Valley and also assist the traders to increase their sales further. These developmental projects will not only help the traders, but also give a further boom to the tourism sector and boost the economy of those associated with the tourism sector.
