Police arrest drug peddler in Kulgam

Srinagar, Jun 16: Police in Kulgam have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
A Police party of Police Station Qaimoh at a checkpoint established at Khudwani Bypass Crossing intercepted a suspicious person, carrying a nylon bag, who tried to flee from the spot after noticing police party, but was apprehended tactfully. He has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Nengroo son of Nazir Ahmad Nengroo resident of Badroo Yaripora. During search, 05 grams of Brown Sugar and 02 Kgs of Poppy were recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 63/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qaimoh and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
