Pulwama, Aug 24: District President Pulwama of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and DDC Chairperson Pulwama, Syed Bari Andrabi Saturday resigned from the party.
Andrabi said that he is resigning as the party is giving mandate to family members from safer seats.
He said that he had quit his job in 2014 to work for the welfare of the people and will continue to do so, adding that he will not further divide people but will work on consolidation so that people won’t get divided further.
On being asked whether he will contest elections, he said that he will decide about it in the next two days after taking workers into confidence.
He said that decisions being taken by PDP won’t damage the party only but will affect the people of J&K in general.
Bari questioned that if leaders were leaving PDP on the directions of BJP then on whose directions they are joining PDP back.
He said that politics is not confined to mandate only but when a party makes such decisions that are against the will of people, then there remains no option other than to exit.
Sources said that Bari is going to extend his support to NC’s candidate on Pulwama seat.
Earlier, PDP leaders Aijaz Ahmad Mir, Raja Waheed, Dr Harbaksh Singh, and Abdul Qayoom Mir resigned from the party.
