Jammu and Kashmir is going to assembly polls for the first time in the last ten year as the place, which was downgraded to the Union Territory, has been without an elected government for the last six years. As the preparations for the polls by the political parties are in full swing, the national parties and leaders are curious about the happenings and developments taking place ahead of the assembly elections. After the announcement of elections, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sent its leaders including Ram Madhav to Jammu and Kashmir with ‘mission Kashmir’. The Indian National Congress (INC) leader and leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi made the poll campaigning interesting in the first phase of polls as he kick-started the campaigning from two constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir. However, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah is all set to visit Jammu in a bid to release the party’s manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections. The frequent visits and measures are pointing towards the close-vigil of national leadership towards Jammu and Kashmir elections. Thus, the poll campaigning is going to be interesting and the parties contesting the polls will have to work hard and prove their mettle amidst such events.
