While the assembly elections are being held in Jammu and Kashmir after the gap of ten years, the political parties are busy with raising voices over Article 370 abrogation and also pointing figures against each other amidst the poll fervor in the Union Territory. Though all the parties have mentioned development of the region in their manifestos but on the ground, it has not remained the war cry for all these political parties, who reach the people at their door steps by making promises of Statehood restoration and also raising fingers on the other candidates. Hardly a few candidates in the electoral fray are talking about the development of their constituencies while rest of the candidates are busy with levelling allegations and wooing voters towards them by calling the others as agents and A and B teams of the other parties. However, one fails to understand why the development has not been the war cry for all these political parties and their candidates in Jammu and Kashmir as the assembly polls are particularly meant for resolving the day-to-day issues of the people like macadamization of roads, ensuring water and electricity to them. Amidst such happenings, the people seem in fix and are still unaware where they are going to find the real and deserving candidates. It would be interesting to see whether voter turnout will increase with no promises and focus on the development in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the elections.
