Srinagar, Oct 3: On the occasion of International Day of Older Persons, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar Thursday organized a program at Ahata-e-Waqar Chanapora, (Day Care and Recreational Centre for Senior Citizens).
The event was held under the guidance of Jaffer Hussain Beg, Chairman DLSA /Pr. District and Sessions Judge Srinagar, and under the supervision of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Sub-Judge/Secretary, DLSA Srinagar, to educate them about their rights and empower them to claim their due.
The programme was attended by the chief guest, Jaffer Hussain Beg, Chairman DLSA/Pr. District and Sessions Judge Srinagar, guest of honor, Nusrat Ali Hakak, Sub-Judge/Secretary, DLSA Srinagar, Abdul Ganie Parray, Chairman of the Senior Citizens Council, Members of Ahata-e-Waqar, Senior Citizens, officials of DLSA Srinagar, Deputy Legal Aid Defence Counsel, panel lawyers, and para-legal volunteers.
The resource persons delivered insightful speech emphasizing the legal rights of senior citizens, underscoring the importance of safeguarding their well-being and ensuring their dignity. Other Members of the Ahata-e-waqar also spoke on the occasion.
In his address, the Principal District and Sessions Judge emphasized the critical role of upholding the rights of senior citizens, advocating for their proper care, and ensuring their safety and security. He reiterated the legal framework protecting their interests and urged participants to actively claim their rights.
Secretary of DLSA Srinagar underscored the importance of fostering a society that respects and values its elders, stressing the need for inclusivity and equitable access to resources and services.
