Blocking junctions not an option

The traffic mess in Srinagar seems to be unending as there has been no end to the unnecessary blockade of roads, which forces the commuters to move around the route to take another way. In Srinagar’s commercial hub Lal Chowk and other areas, the authorities have been blocking the junctions with an aim to streamline the traffic, but on the ground, the common masses have to face hardships as it takes a lot of time to cross just a few meters of the road length. The major junctions where such measures have been taken, needs to be looked thoroughly with an aim to decongest the spot for streamlining the traffic, however, blocking the ways is only adding to the miseries of the people. There is a need to do more work on such a crucial issue so that the common masses, especially the commuters will heave a sigh of relief. Since the number of vehicles are increasing on the roads, the time has come to widen the roads, especially in Srinagar areas where the flow of the traffic is increasing with each passing day. Blocking the junctions is not an option and nor will it serve the cause, but instead, the concerned department should look into the matter thoroughly and come up with a long-lasting plan that will not push the common masses to the wall and would ease their sufferings especially in the morning and evening hours.
