Gurez, Oct 24: Minister for Social Welfare, School Education, Higher Education, Health and Medical Education departments, Sakeena Masood Itoo, Thursday conducted an extensive tour of Gurez subdivision of Bandipora district and took first hand appraisal of its developmental scenario.
During the visit, the Minister inspected Government Degree College (GDC), Gurez, Community Health Centre (CHC) Gurez, Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Dawar and other utilities of public importance and took on spot assessment of their functioning.
While inspecting the Community Health Centre (CHC) Gurez, the Minister took in-depth review of all the medical facilities available at facility as well as inspected its wards and other units. She interacted with patients, attendants and sought feedback from them about the services being provided at the Centre.
Interacting with doctors and paramedics on the occasion, Sakeena Masood asked them to provide best and quality medical treatments to the patients owing to its distance from the main district headquarters. She directed them to keep the buffer stock of medicines and other life saving equipments available at the facility in view of the coming winters. She assured them of all possible support and assistance and advised them to approach her office directly in case of any urgent requirements for the health facility.
During her visit to Government Degree College Gurez and Government Higher Secondary School Dawar, the Minister interacted with college administration, school staff as well as students. She sought feedback from the students about the quality of education provided in these institutions.
While interacting with the college administration and school staff on the occasion, the Minister advised them to provide best quality education to the students in line with the developing technological and digital world. She also asked the administration of both the institutions to organise counselling sessions for students in order to make them competitive about the present day world.
Later, the Minister also chaired meeting of senior officers of sub-divisional administration and took stock of ongoing developmental and infrastructural projects in the area.
Addressing the officers during the meeting, the Minister stressed on them to complete works on all vital projects promptly in view of the onset of winters. She directed them to mobilise men and machinery at big projects and work in shifts so that they can be completed within weeks.
While taking stock of essential commodities in the sub-division, Sakeena Masood impressed upon the officers to store enough stock of commodities as the region faces road closure due to harsh winters . She advised them to keep buffer stock of cooking gas cylinders and other essential items available so that the general public does not face any inconvenience during the winter.
The Minister also called upon the health officials to store enough medicines as well as other essential equipments to avoid any kind of exigency in view of inclement weather conditions. She also called upon the officers to work out the modules for chopper services during winters for the general public as well as for dealing with the cases of medical emergencies.
Member of Legislative Assembly, Gurez, Nazir Ahmad Khan (Gurezi); Director School Education Kashmir and other senior officers also accompanied the Minister during the visit.
