Keep Kashmir connected

The disturbing reports are once again coming to the fore, which states that 321 people have lost their lives in the road accidents across Jammu and Kashmir in the past nine months. Such reports call for a united fight to put an end to such incidents in J&K. There are people who believe that the majority of such road accidents are taking place due to reckless driving, inappropriate roads and other related issues. The government at this juncture has to play its role to help in saving the precious lives in Jammu and Kashmir. In the initial stage, the priority is to make the roads convenient for traveling and also ensure the proper sign boards are erected at the vital junctures. The majority of roads in Srinagar and elsewhere are lacking the sign boards, which should have been erected at the vital junctures close to the schools, hospitals and other places. Moreover, the roads have not been designed properly wherever the speed breakers and crossings have been made by the concerned authorities. The absence of such vital things is also contributing to the rise in these accidents. But, the time has come when everyone has to play their role and make sure there is no lapse on their part. Therefore, all these important issues need to be looked into at an earliest so that the number of accidents may come down and the precious lives could be saved on the ground. It is a time when the community should work together as a society to bring the number of road traffic accidents down and ensure no lives are lost on the roads.
