Barmulla, Nov 18: A wave of frustration gripped the parents as schools across Baramulla district have implemented a contentious policy, requiring students to clear all dues up to November before being issued roll number slips for the final exams.
This decision has sparked outrage, particularly because the month of November is still ongoing, leaving many families scrambling to meet the financial demand.
Several parents have expressed their inability to comply with the directive, citing ongoing financial hardships. “How can I pay dues for November when I haven’t even received my salary for this month?” lamented a parent, visibly distressed after receiving a message from their child’s school stating:
“Kindly note that the roll number slips for Term Second Exam are issued today. Before collecting roll number slips, kindly clear all the school dues up to November.”
“It’s extremely unfair,” said another parent.
While parents are demanding immediate intervention, school authorities have defended their stance, citing the need to ensure smooth administrative operations and timely fee collection.
A senior official from one of the schools stated, “We understand the concerns of parents, but schools rely on timely payments to meet operational costs, including staff salaries and maintenance. This measure was introduced to prevent delays.”
“We appeal to the government to step in and ensure that schools do not resort to such measures,” said a group of parents.
