Srinagar, Nov 19: In a bid to ensure road safety and curb violations, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Sopore, has intensified enforcement measures across the district.
Speaking on the ongoing efforts, the ARTO, Mauzzam Ali highlighted the collaboration between the Motor Vehicle Department and the traffic police to address persistent issues on the roads.
“For the past several days, a robust enforcement drive has been launched against traffic violators. On average, 20 to 30 challans are issued daily, with fines being levied accordingly,” ARTO said
He stated a zero-tolerance policy towards major violations, including underage driving.
“In cases of significant infractions, we seize the vehicles. Allowing minors to drive is strictly prohibited. We call upon parents to cooperate with authorities and refrain from handing over vehicles to underage drivers,” he added.
The officer also appealed to the general public to adhere to traffic rules and regulations. “My appeal to drivers is simple—follows the rules and drive only if you possess a valid driving license. This is crucial for everyone’s safety on the roads,” he said.
The drive has already received positive feedback from local residents, with many appreciating the stringent measures as a step towards creating safer roads. Authorities have urged citizens to support the initiative by prioritizing compliance with traffic norms.
