Srinagar, Nov 20: Nasir Aslam Wani, the advisor to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Wednesday said that the government will think about permanent rehabilitation of fire affected families of Rainawari Srinagar and other inhabitants of Dal Lake.
Talking to reporters after visiting the fire affecting families in the interior areas of Dal lake, Wani, said that under the SDRF Rs 1.30 lakh cash relief has been provided to the fire affected families besides RS 1 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
“Dal lake residents are prone to fire during winters. Fire service approach is also absent in the interiors of Dal lake. We had initiated permanent rehabilitation of Dal dwellers and for that Rakh-e-Arth had been identified. We are committed to rehabilitate all Dal dwellers and relocate the houseboats,” he said. “Deputy Commissioner Srinagar is identifying the land for the fire affected families
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Satish Sharma said that fire affected families will get free ration for three months. “My department will ensure that the ration reaches the affected families today evening,” he said. “Thank God there was no loss of life in the fire incident.”
Pertinently, at least 18 residential structures were damaged in Rainawari fire incident on Tuesday, leaving nearly two dozen families homeless.
