DC Kulgam reviews arrangements for I-Day celebrations

Kulgam, Jul 22: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan Tuesday convened a meeting of officers from the civil administration, Army, and Police to review and finalize arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day 2025 celebrations in the district.
During the meeting, District Police Lines (DPL) Kulgam was finalized as the main venue, where the Tricolour will be hoisted by the chief guest. The ceremony will be followed by a march past featuring contingents from District Police, CRPF, IRP, Women’s Contingent, Police Band, NCC, students, and other participants.
A detailed discussion was held regarding security arrangements, traffic regulation, seating, Full Dress Rehearsal, decoration, cultural events, public address system, power and water supply, transport, sanitation, medical care, invitation cards, barricading and other logistics.
DC fixed responsibilities to concerned officers and departments and directed them to ensure foolproof and elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the event.
He emphasized that all preparations must be completed well in advance, with close coordination among departments to make the celebration a grand success.
KPDCL and Jal Shakti departments were directed to ensure uninterrupted electricity and water supply, including provision of water tankers at the venue.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) was instructed to arrange proper medical facilities, including staff and ambulances.
Executive Officer of Municipal Council Kulgam was asked to ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the venue and town, while KPDCL was also tasked with illuminating the Mini-Secretariat and other key office complexes and other locations.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, Altaf Ahmad; ADC, Viqar Ahmad Giri; SDM Noorabad, Bashir Ul Hassan; ACR, Riyaz Ahmad Shah; ACD, Bilal Ahmad Kamgar; Tehsildars, Executive Engineers of R&B and Jal Shakti, ARTO and other district and sectoral officers.
