Kulgam, Sep 30: As part of the nationwide Sewa Parv–2025 celebrations, Kulgam witnessed a series of vibrant activities under the campaign.
The Kulgam Urban Local Bodies, Rural Development Department in collaboration with the District Administration, organized a mega programme at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Kulgam, which was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan.
During the event, sanction letters were distributed to beneficiaries under Mission YUVA, and house keys were handed over to families under the PMAY-U & PMAY-G scheme.
The celebrations also featured plantation drives, awareness sessions, and cultural performances.
The programme laid special emphasis on cleanliness drives, waste segregation, and curbing the use of plastic, in line with the government’s vision of promoting a sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Athar Aamir Khan highlighted the importance of community participation in achieving the goals of Swachh Bharat and creating a plastic-free environment. He urged students to become ambassadors of change by practicing waste segregation at source, discouraging single-use plastics, and spreading awareness within their families.
A skit on cleanliness and drug abuse, presented by the Cultural Unit of DIPR conveyed a strong message for society.
School children of GHSS Kulgam also performed a cultural programme promoting cleanliness. The event further featured a painting competition under NCA and AMRUT, showcasing the creative talent of students from various schools.
The programme was attended by ADDC, ADC, ACR, EO MC Kulgam, and staff members of GHSS Kulgam, along with enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and volunteers, making the event vibrant and impactful.
