Waqf Board undertook major upgradation of shrines over past three years: Darakhshan Andrabi

Anantnag, Jan 5: Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, on Monday inaugurated an ornamental panel dome and a newly constructed administrative block at the Kabamarg shrine in south Kashmir’s Anantnag.
“The inauguration marked another milestone in the ongoing infrastructure development and upgradation works being carried out at various shrines and mosques across the Union Territory under the supervision of the Waqf Board,” Andrabi told reporters.
She said that several shrines and mosques had long been facing deficiencies in basic infrastructure. She said that recognising these gaps, the Waqf Board initiated a comprehensive programme of construction and upgradation works around three years ago.
She stated that sustained efforts were made to improve facilities for devotees, streamline administrative functioning, and preserve the sanctity of religious places. “For the last three years, we have taken up construction and upgradation works at various shrines and mosques. Almost all the projects have either been completed or are near completion,” she said.
Dr Andrabi said the newly inaugurated facilities at the Kabamarg shrine would help in better management of shrine affairs and provide improved amenities to devotees visiting the religious site. She added that special emphasis has been laid on quality, durability, and aesthetic value while executing these works.
The event was attended by local officials, Waqf Board representatives, and members of the local community, who welcomed the initiative and expressed satisfaction over the improvements carried out at the shrine. [KNT]
