Fire guts two houses in Kulgam

Kulgam, Jan 30: A fire broke out in Dragdan village of the DH Pora area in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday, gutting two residential houses and causing significant damage to property, officials said.
Officials said the fire engulfed residential houses belonging to Gulzar Ahmad Malik and Mohammad Yousuf Dar. Soon after the incident, teams from Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control after sustained efforts, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.
Although no loss of life was reported in the incident, household goods and other belongings were damaged in the fire, leaving the affected families distressed.
The cause of the fire is being ascertained, officials said. Authorities have taken cognizance of the incident and further assessment of losses is underway. [KNT]
