Srinagar, Mar 19: BJP State Executive Member J&K and Incharge District Office Construction Projects, Mohammad Amin Shah, has strongly appealed to the Jammu and Kashmir Government to immediately release the long-pending wages of daily wagers, saying that withholding their salaries on the sacred occasion of Eid is deeply unfortunate and unjust.
In a statement, Mohammad Amin Shah said it is highly condemnable that thousands of daily wagers, who work tirelessly to support government departments and keep public services functioning, are being made to suffer due to non-payment of their hard-earned wages. He said that on a pious and blessed occasion like Eid, when families expect relief, dignity and happiness, the government’s failure to release wages reflects administrative insensitivity and neglect towards the poor and working class.
Shah said that daily wagers are already struggling with rising prices, household expenses and financial hardships, and depriving them of their rightful earnings at such a crucial time is nothing less than injustice. He asserted that these workers are not asking for charity, but for their legitimate wages which they have earned through their sweat and labour.
He criticized the government for what he termed as its “anti-worker and insensitive approach,” stating that the administration must stop ignoring the plight of daily wagers and take immediate steps to clear all pending dues without any further delay. He said the continued silence of the government on this pressing humanitarian issue has added to the pain and frustration of thousands of families across Jammu and Kashmir.
Mohammad Amin Shah urged the concerned authorities to act without delay and ensure that the wages of daily wagers are released immediately so that they can celebrate Eid with dignity and provide basic necessities to their families. He warned that the pain and anger of daily wagers cannot be ignored forever and called upon the government to show accountability, compassion and seriousness in addressing the issue.
