Jammu, May 19: Advisor to Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani Tuesday conducted an extensive review of key infrastructure and development works being executed under the Jammu Smart City Limited and stressed the need for timely completion of all major projects ahead of the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra.
During the visit, the Advisor was accompanied by Dr. Devansh Yadav, Director Projects Sunil Thusu and other senior officials of Jammu Smart City Limited.
The Advisor first visited the TATA e-Bus Depot being developed under the FAME-II initiative and reviewed the ongoing works related to the PM e-Bus Sewa project. The officials informed him that the modern electric bus infrastructure is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 16 crore to strengthen the eco-friendly public transport facilities in Jammu city.
Appreciating the efforts of Jammu Smart City Limited in modernising the urban transport infrastructure, Nasir Aslam lauded the progress achieved so far and directed the officials to ensure early completion and inauguration of the PM e-Bus Sewa project. He said that the Smart City initiatives are visibly transforming Jammu into a cleaner, greener and more organised urban centre and stressed that all developmental projects must be expedited in a mission mode.
Later, the Advisor visited the upcoming Waste to Wonder Park project and expressed happiness after witnessing the artistic monuments being created from recycled waste material. He also interacted with the artisans and workers engaged in the project and appreciated their creativity and dedication.
Describing the initiative as a unique and innovative addition to Jammu city, the Advisor congratulated the Jammu Smart City team for undertaking such a commendable project aimed at promoting tourism, environmental awareness and public recreation.
The officials informed him that the Waste to Wonder Park is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 11 crore and is expected to be completed by the end of June 2026.
The Advisor, however, directed the concerned authorities to make all possible efforts to complete the project before the commencement of the Amarnath Yatra so that the pilgrims and tourists visiting Jammu can also experience the attraction.
According to the officials, the physical progress of the project has already reached nearly 80 percent. The park will feature 14 replica monuments created from scrap and recycled materials, including seven international monuments, five national landmarks and two monuments representing Uttar Pradesh.
The officials further stated that this will be the first-of-its-kind Waste to Wonder Park in Jammu, envisioned as a major recreational and educational destination for school children, tourists and local residents alike. The project is also expected to promote the concept of waste recycling and environmental sustainability through creative public infrastructure.
Nasir Aslam reiterated the commitment of the government towards accelerating the urban development works and ensuring that Jammu city emerges as a modern and citizen-friendly urban centre equipped with sustainable infrastructure and enhanced public amenities.
